From a humble basement to a 1,500-seat sanctuary, this is the Lord’s doing.
Jesus Power Assembly of God Church is a bible-based and predominantly immigrant Church founded by Pastor Bismark Osei Akomeah. In response to a divine call, he moved from Houston, Texas and relocated to Columbus, Ohio in June 2001 to establish the church.
2001
The Beginning
A Basement, A Family, A Vision
Rev. Bismark Akomeah answered a divine call and relocated from Houston, Texas to Columbus, Ohio alongside his wife Mrs. Linda Akomeah and their children, Daniella, Bismark Jr., and Miriam as the founding members.
The basement of Pastor Bismark’s apartment on 3445 Greenwich Street became the birthplace of Jesus Power Assembly of God Church. Three months later the church moved to a location by the Church of the Living Word in Westerville, Ohio, with membership rising to 27 including Deacon Henkel Addo, Sister Tina Pinamang West, Mr. Kwasi Ampaabeng, Pastor Kwadwo Ababio and wife. Rev. Ofosu Atta also joined as Associate Pastor.

Rapid Growth
Too Big for the Building
Barely a year later, God added to the number and the membership grew bigger than the building. The rapid expansion forced the church to move to the auditorium of Brookhaven High School on Karl Road, Columbus, while awaiting the completion of its own sanctuary.
The new property at 5215 Cleveland Avenue cost approximately $1 million, featuring a 10,000 sq ft office building and a 280-seat sanctuary. In September 2003, the new sanctuary was dedicated amidst praise and jubilation.
2005
Ordained & Expanding
Planting Churches & Growing Nations
In September 2005, Pastor Bismark was ordained as a Reverend Minister by the Ohio District Council of Assemblies of God. JPAGC was named among 14 churches declared as Transformational Churches.
His passion for souls led to churches planted in Atlanta, Georgia; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Swahili and French-speaking congregations. The church grew to approximately 600 active members and 200 children from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Tanzania, Haiti, St. Lucia, the Caribbean, and the United States.

2010
Glory Temple
A 1,500-Seat Sanctuary
Growth had overstretched the 280-seat sanctuary. In a time of economic recession, AG Finance accepted to finance the Glory Temple project. In April 2009, Rev. Bismark & Mrs. Linda Akomeah performed the sod-cutting ceremony alongside Dr. Allen of Midwest Construction.
On April 25, 2010 exactly one year later, the multipurpose Glory Temple seating 1,500 was dedicated to the glory of God. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. George Wood, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Worldwide, alongside ministers from the USA, Africa, and Europe.
